Nekoze App Reviews

12 Customer Reviews:

Thank you very much! I want to use this every day. However I am having trouble with it: When I turn my head to the left or right, or look down at the keyboard, Nekoze pops up, even though my back is upright. This is not correct, the app should check the shoulder position only, I think. So maybe this needs a little improvement so I can move my head while working in front of the screen without triggering an alarm. Thanks for your attention.

If youre looking for a stubborn reminder to sit up straight, this is what you need ! Although my review might not read like it, this is VERY useful as is. Still - critique to make it better you ask? Here are some suggestions: 1. The "alarm" pops up if I turn my head to the far left (not the right for some reason) 2. If no face is recognized, an alternative note instead of "Nekoze" (without sound) would be better 3. I would like to be able to change the sound and / or switch between a set of mascots (the "Meow!" is a bit too cute for an office environment ^.^) 4. There should be an optional mode to detect diagonal positions (head tilted too much to the side; maybe only when the sum of both arms and the head together form a diagonal line) 5. Note sure if the app remembers my last reference capture? Would be user friendly and enable auto-start of the last used camera, e.g. iSight if available (I would love that, because I fear that I forgett to calibrate and turn it on on stressful days) - if this isnt already implemented (not sure) this would make sense to complete the start-on-login feature. 6. In elaboration to point 5: maybe show a sticky notification (notification center) as calibration reminder on error (like the calendar uses)

Doesn’t really work

Followed the intructions, but it keep giving me false positives. I adjust the precision the the lowest setting and it was still not working properly.

Detected my face very easily, but no matter the settings I used, I had a constantly whining cat. Every movement seemed to set it off (and often when not even moving at all)…not sure if this was tested at all before releasing. I’m looking for an app to give me a little poke when I forget to sit up straight, not one to whine at me if I breathe or turn my head slightly.

First I would like to encourage the developer of this app. There is indeed a big need for this app and actually I would pay for it if it serves its initial goal. For some reason I can not get it to start. The camera green light is on and then there is a message "Push Start button while straightening your spine". but the start button can not be actioned.

Just like the other reviewer, I could not get this to work either. It does not allow you to click the start button as it is grayed out. This app is a great, fun concept, but Id love for it to function!

This program runs from the top menu bar which is great- active but doesnt take up any space! The kittten changes each time if you slouch multiple times which is fun. Its a little hard for me to hold posture- I didnt even notice how much I slouch! This is a great reminder (and you can always turn it off if it bothers you or if youre not sitting traditionally). If you have issues getting it to start (the "start" button stays grey) try moving around a little (slouching then sitting up) and it should work.

This annoying little feline meows contentedly when I slouch, and lets me have it when I tilt my head to the side. It scolds me repeeatedly when I sit up straight, and then changes its mind before I move. It is apparently happy when I look down at the keyboard. Oh, well, It not only has a start button.

not super accurate, and you start ignoring the cat after a while. The concept is super cute though!!!

It doesn’t seem to work very well while wearing glasses, which seems really stupid considering the target audience. The camera always being on drains the batteries very quickly, so I don’t recommend using this while you’re mobile. Also, the stupid thing meows EVERY TIME I look down at my keyboard! I know that my posture is still fine, but the app cannot see my eyes and apparently its algorithm is just THAT sophomoric and inept. Fun idea though and the meows were cute the first 200 times.

I like this idea as, like many of us, I’m very inclined to slump at my Mac. But my efforts with Nekoze have been really irritating. Practically no user help on how to set it up or fine-tune it. Facetiime camera on my relatively recent iMac can’t easily identify me in good light. Glasses seem to be a problem. And, even when identified, I am subjected to constant meow’s, which don’t seem particularly related to my posture. I know I can turn the sound off, but I still get the multiple versions of the cat image popping up without any explanation on what, if anything, they mean. Feels like an alpha.

Wow it actually works for me

It didn't work the first time that's bc when I started it I was sitting up straight. You have to start it while you're slouching.. then press the START button that flashes THEN sit up straight. If I slouched more than 5-10% that cat would meow and remind me. Really cool

just didn’t work

I use a laptop plugged into a second monitor, with the second monitor being primary. The external monitor also has a webcam which I use without issue for all other apps, but Nekoze didn’t recognize it. It would only use the webcam on my small laptop, which is positioned lower and off to the side. Kitty alert was literally constantly on, even RIGHT after I hit the start button and literally had not moved yet. I tried it again while fully facing my laptop, and it worked well. But that’s not the way I sit while I’m working. So this doesn’t do it for me. If it had an option to choose another camera, I would give it another try.
